Front cover
We chose this as our front cover because we felt it stood out and really encompassed the feel of the album as a whole. The process to making this album cover was fairly simple; we started out by going through the same process we went through during our park shoot except from the fact that we did the painting in our schools art room and we decided to only paint half of my face. After we had finished our photo shoot and got enough pictures to work with. We picked what we believed to be the best photo we had taken and began to edit our photo on pixlr. We had garnered inspiration from Eminem’s album cover for relapse, in which we see a close up of Eminem’s face which is made up from prescription pills. We decided to incorporate this within our own album cover and we decided to have half of our protagonists face made up with pills. This is to show the characters recurrent problem with drugs and how drugs have engulfed his life. Half of our protagonist face is a clown face which bears reference to our own music video in which we see the characters alter ego, the depressed clown, this helps show the protagonists split personality and also the characters conflict. I feel that this matches the tone of the album and the music video as a whole. We also put the album’s title within the bottom corner of our album cover, We did this as it was a similar layout to the original album cover and we felt that we wanted a focus upon the close-up of our protagonist rather than on the album’s title; our album is about the journey of the protagonist and him alone so we felt that our album had to have a pivotal focus upon the protagonist. We also used Eminem’s trademark E so that the audience could see this and relate the album back to the artist. We had ‘prescribed by Dr Dre’ in the right bottom corner almost as approval stamp by Dr Dre and also to bare reference back to whole prescription pills theme. We finally had a parental advisory stamp in the bottom right corner to make our album as a whole look more professional.

Inside cover
Our inside cover took a while to do as it was the first cover we worked on. First of all we took pictures with an app on the iMac; called iPhoto booth we took two different pictures with my head turned to side as if I were facing someone, I had to put on different expressions, one of anger and one of sorrow. We then put both pictures on to pixlr, pasted them together and added an effect to them. We did this to connote the conflict that rises within the protagonist and how this conflict is reflective within the album as a whole. On the inside cover we see the two sides of the protagonist come to a head and we felt that this was very effective as it really highlights the characters bipolar disorder and also the characters S.P.D and this creates tension within the protagonist. We also used the contrast of light and dark to emphasis this point. A lot of this inspiration comes from the title movie poster of ‘The Hangover Part 3’ in which we see two title characters within the film face to face. This created a sense of conflict and makes it seem like everything is coming to a head, a finale. We wanted to replicate this feeling into our own project.

Inside cover part 2
Another part of the inside cover was the use of a pool of prescription pills this is to show what is inside our character and also to show our characters problem with drugs and how this continues to affect him. Some of the inspiration came from the film Lord Of War, in which we see a pool of bullets leading to the films protagonist, to show that he is almost made up of bullets, like the bullets are a [part of him and we wanted to do the same thing but with pills.
